Interesting.
Predators are up 3 games to 0 against the Blackhawks.
If the Blues hold on to take the series, they'll face the Predators who they beat during the season.
Blues are down 2-0 after two periods.![]()

You getting liquid sunshine this morning?
You get some sleep, I hope?
I see my coffee coming up; Thanks much; sure need it.. I messed up somewhere yesterday & went to bed with a gut & back ache; felt like strained muscles. Didn't sleep 'til after 3 myself because of it.
Congratulations! We have 10 baby chicks! Our classroom incubating project has been a success. First time using my incuview incubator in my 4th grade classroom. I originally set 20. We have a few left in the incubator that have pipped but they have had no movement for a while. I am not comfortable with assisted hatching so I am letting them be for now. These are eggs from my personal flock of barred rocks. The few light ones I think are eggs mixed with my barred rock rooster and my golden wyndotte hens.![]()
How'd it end??
I'm rather amazed the Blackhawks haven't been putting up more of a fight. They seemed like a decent team.

Fertility apt went good. We start meds tonight, I go back monday for labs. Got the insurance crap figured out, and it's a 55 dollar copay for trigger shot, and 55 copay for the injectable meds (of any dosage per month... so I may switch entirely to injectable cycles after this. I'm going ot talk to him about options next monday if this cycle doesn't work out.) Out of pocket expense for femera is 257 because insurance won't cover my dosage of oral meds, because their protocol for insurance is 2.5 and I have to take 10mg for 3 days and 12.5 for 2 days to get my ovaries to produce an egg. :/ Insurance says it's WAY out of the norm so they won't cover it. Blah. the poopers.
BUT if everything goes well - we will hopefully trigger in 10 days roughly give or take a couple of days, and in 3-4 weeks maybe i'll get to make a big announcement.
awesome!!woo hoo!
my (very) experienced chicken-owning friends did a vent check on my unknowned gender chick and she's a girl!![]()

all mothers feel this painCome to my house and take them - PLEASE - they are the Bain of my (barefoot) existence
@BantyChooks @Article EditorYes. Avian oviducts are unique in the ability to store sperm for long periods at body temperature. There are sperm storage tubules at the junction of the uterus and vagina. The immune system in the oviduct which prevents tissue infection appears to also preserve sperm. This is not where ovum fertilization takes place though. That is in the infundibulum near the ovary. Apparently when an egg passes, mechanical pressure forces some out so it can make it's way to the infundibulum or funnel where there are more sperm storage sites. An ovum drops into the infundibulum and spends about 15 minutes there where it is fertilized before it goes to the isthmus and magnum where inner and outer membrane and albumen are added. From there it heads to the uterus/shell gland for more water, calcium carbonate and pigment.
What this mean for breeding chickens is that if a hen has been in the company of a rooster and you relocate her to another rooster, you have to wait a minimum of 3 weeks before her eggs are likely to be fertilized by the new rooster. A month is safer.
The evolutionary case for this is that as flock protectors, a rooster will give himself up to predators to save the hens as they run for cover.
The hens can then go off and for at least 3 weeks, produce more roosters for fertilization and flock protection.
I think that's a cool system.

They made the Canadiens put up a run for their money if they wanted to win, I'll give them that.I think everyone is amazed by that. Blackhawks always give the Blues fits and are always in the Stanley Cup running.
Their coach, Joel Quenneville, used to be the Blues coach.
The Blues first 3 years in the league - '68, '69 and '70 - they went to the finals, losing to Montreal the first 2 years and to Boston in '70. They haven't been to the finals since. Scotty Bowman was their coach back then. IMHO, he's the best hockey coach ever.
Montreal has been to the finals far more than any other team. 34 appearances, 24 wins.
Sorry I fell asleep :/ What happened? It's hard to tell what I'm looking at. The membrane I see is white, but the chick looks dark, slick crusty dry.. I can see it breathing but I can't tell where the beak is from my view.
I think she is using at them like some people use hatching baskets. But you appear to be short of legos,,
