I don't need them for broodiness, and I don't intend to breed. I just *like* the silkies for pets, and want enough girls/flock big enough to replace the silkies every 3-4 years as needed.Do you just want them for broody hens or are you going to show/breed?
Honestly, I don't want to take chicks from places who aren't NPIP and i'm fairly certain they are clean. We have a lot of merek's and black head down here, and I don't want to risk exposing my birds, since I'm clean right now.Have you checked your local craigslist? Lots of chicks this time of year, I've seen a couple silkie chick ads already, though they still won't be sexed.

sounds like you need eggs, ravyn has gorgeous silkies and ships them really well tooThey are also sold out, at least until June, but there's a waiting list, and may still not be available. Dang.
I guess I should get more hatching eggs, and hope for more pullets?
