EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I think 20 bucks for 10 tests and shipping two or three bucks. I took out warm water and they all guzzled and just held a clean cup under when one squatted, then its just the matter of cooling urine to room temp 30 mins and then syringing urine into the vile to the marked line. no issues at all. I read so much on these tests, seems they had issues with them, but they must have done something different to them as this past breeding season I am reading only good about these specific tests.

ps I think the buck knew what he was doing before I did

Perhaps people were using the same syringe for all animals and contaminated the results.

DYK when duck poop dries onto concrete it takes quite a while to get it off?
I think it becomes concrete.

Sounds like a great way to go!
Somehow, antifreeze & food grade used together just don't sound right.
We also have right at 2400 sf to heat. We do it with the largest woodstove Timberline ever made, rated @ 2500. We cut floor vents upstairs & pulled out 90% of the glass insulation (modular house; not designed with basements in mind). The stairs going to the main level act as a natural chimney, but it's still a little cool upstairs.
We'll go through 4-5 cords ourselves, heating far less than you do, and in a warmer climate.
We've used wood heat for so long, I have no idea whether our home insurance is higher or not. Makes no difference; still cheaper than paying the power crooks for heat.
Power crooks and their legislative cronies.
A nickel here, a nickel there, incremental increases and all of a sudden they get all your money.

I only use natural gas for heat in winter. It still costs me $30 a month all summer just to have the pipe connected to my house. Same with electric. A similar charge whether I use electric or not.
That is theft in my mind and should be illegal. I know countries that it is illegal to charge for nothing - but not here.

Good morning to all!

Today is the Holocaust memorial day here, and as every year seeing and hearing the survivors stories and imaging the hell they have been true, it is beyond understanding.
So my friends I would like that every one of us will think how lucky we are that we live in a free and democratic country and we are saved from this kind of atrocities!

In memory of the 6,000 ,000!

That's an amazing number. I think it was Winston Churchill that said, “Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others.”

lovely! Alpaca my bags and head right over, wait.... how can you tell the difference between alpaca and llama?
Alpaca are half the size with shorter necks and rounder heads. shorter ears. Alpaca are more herd animals while llamas are more independent. Alpacas are more skittish while llamas are more aggressive. Alpaca were bred for their finer fiber and llamas were bred for meat and to be pack animals.

Are there any guanaco or vicuña in the US?
Alpacas are the domestic form of vicuña.

My ducks loved 'em beyond anything else. I'd start lifting up boards I had down around the run and they'd come to my side on the double.

Chrissy seems to have lost her love of them, she only will eat reg'lar food now... Hoping she comes around again.
I used to encourage my birds to eat worms until I realized worms were a secondary host for parasitic worms.

I fixed it. It missed my ending. Green
Then I told Banti she would like this beautiful sunny morning in the thirties. I love these mornings, but it is headed for the mid seventies, while I prefer the sixties.
We like the same temperatures. So what are we doing in MO?

yes! 68-70 is there a place on earth that has these temperatures all the time! perfect temp for my achy body!
Yes, there is. I keep telling you, higher elevation in the tropics.
After a lifetime of working in hot factories in a hot climate, I've researched this a lot.
Cuenca, Quiito or Loja Ecuador; mountains of central Mexico like Toluca or Zacatecas; Kunming China, Addis Ababa Ethiopia; Pereira, Bogata or Medellin Columbia, Boquete Panama, Tegucigalpa Honduras, Quetzaltenango Guatemala, Toluca Mexico.

Other places not at high altitude with mild temps year round are Santa Barbara California, Malaga Spain, Canary Islands Spain, Sydney Australia, Madeira Portugal, Sao Paolo Brazil, Lihue Kawaii Hawaii, Durban South Africa, Nice France, Rosarito Mexico

My personal favorites - San Vito, Cartago, Cerro de Muerte in Costa Rica or life on the upper slopes of the Poas or Chirropo volcanoes.

Since you like snow so well, you should spend April-Oct in Australia & Nov -Mar in Canada
I ain't goin' nowhere near them giant venomous spiders for nothin'!

North pole all summer and Canada all winter sounds good to moi.

Or, I could move to Greenland...

It sounds nice there.

Well, I can't remember if I told y'all about having to swap out my Isabels for CCL (I think I did) ,but the CCLs are doing great. All 7 eggs are developing. Once again I got very few messed up air cells and all but two fixed themselves after settling. Come on CCLs!
