EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Hammer would have been better for all concerned...:old

'Cept moi, I'd have had an anxiety attack....

Chicky ended up being fine, I was just concerned cos it pipped, waited a while, and then spun w/o zipping. Ended up turning back eventually and hatching fine with no more messing.

.
The problem is that a lot of us have some perfectionism problem some way or another. IMHO good helper = paying 100% for getting 70% work . this is the minimum that I seeks less than that is unacceptable more is most welcome!
Is it unrealistic to expect a day's work for a day's pay w/o being a perfectionist?
That mindset among the workforce is, IMO, one of the main problems in society today.
I don't recall anyone ever giving me something for nothing.

The tester said it was needed and to make friends with a vet. Maybe because the Louisiana NPIP is basically just p/t? Anything else is not free. He discouraged me from additional testing even though I was willing to pay for it.

Can you become your own tester?

I test my own. I do PT, MG. AI and some Salmonella, The last 4 require swabs or blood samples sent to the lab. I think your tester is either lazy or an idyot.

So many states are requiring AI now and MG is a NPIP requirement but many states are just doing turkeys however I was told that is changing. I just got a ton of dry swabs for MG in my chickens next month, I need to do 30% of my birds if I recall the instructions,

Quote: They expect someone to hand it to them. My BIL got laid off once, back when I worked for IBM. I told him our maintenance crew was always needing more people & he should talk to them. He wanted to know what they paid; I gave him what little info I had. He told me he couldn't afford to work for the figure I'd told him, which was a lot more than he was making right then. Instead, he started drawing unemployment. I was out of work a few times myself; never took the first dime of unemployment!

You must understand that a paid stranger WILL never do the work in the same time, and quality that you will do yourself (I am not speaking about a professional work that you don't know how yo do it l am speaking about simple physical labor) they aren't committed as you are.

I was not impressed with him for sure. The tester my hona mentor got was way better, from what we've gathered. Not sure what hoops I would have to jump through to be my own tester.
