I was expected my two broodies babies to hatch thursday, but I got yesterday and today instead! So cute! You should see them try to climb on mom! So far I have magpies and runner/ magpie mix ducklings (the mix looks like a swedish). I wanna hold one, but my normally gentle and sweet Cheri now reminds me of...

Litteraly. Broodiness really changes a girls personality. It is funny how while incubating, if i tried to scare her off she would opened her mouth but go away (quacking the whole time she was off at the top of her lungs) now she has babies and wants to, you know, If I come near. Sadly, when two magpie babies hatched last night, they didn't get under mama i guess, and they were dead this morning.
Very sad.

Are they native? My dad and my FIL have been swapping pollen on their American chestnuts. Hoping for some fertile nuts.
Crazy stuff, heard after finding a whole ton of them where I hunt, been clear cut, dozed, big skidders, but they left all the big oaks, great hunting. All sorts of small chestnuts now producing! Never saw them before. Heard the nuts, maybe it was the roots? can lay dormant for decades and the dozing and skidding sprouted them.

be careful of some chaestnuts can be poisonous or have something on them thats poisonous, my grandfather used to tell me this, i dont think we have them in this area but
