A mentally disturbed turkey. Lock it up, it could have rabies if it hangs with a dux!
Thanks, MC!!!
Happy birthday!!!
I'm afraid I have to agree.
Hey, nothing wrong with "supervising"!
So lovely!!!
At least you have an excuse. I've been super cranky and pissy lately. Maybe if I get to yell "Get off my lawn" at some kid today it'll make me feel better...
Well, with as contentious as the oldest growout groups have gotten (having discovered testosterone), I really have to cull all the non-keeper boys this weekend - there;s just too much fighting, and while no one has been seriously injured, it puts my teeth on edge and has the entire chicken yard on edge as well. I was astonished to realize that the oldest group is almost 20 weeks old, and the second oldest is 18 weeks. So, the ice chest is full of fresh ice, and I've already moved most of them to the brooder cages with water only. Then I had to swap out everyone's water with fresh cool water as it's 96F. It was hot enough that I just turned the hose on my head and face for a while - felt fantastic! Totally brought back memories of playing with the garden hose or running through the sprinkler as a child. Everyone's got fresh water, and they're all hunkered down in the bedding trying to stay cool - no one appears to be suffering, so that's good (if they were, they would go on the cull list) - misters will be set up in June.
The fully feathered culls (three boys, two girls) will be done this afternoon because I will skin them. (I'm just inside cooling off before heading back out.) Once they're done I'll fetch the remaining NN culls and put them in the brooder cages with water before bed. I'll fire up the scalder in the morning, and come hell or high water, I WILL get 10 chickens processed tomorrow.
Wish me luck!!!

I think she will kill if I take her baby. Though Duckling and did hold it.
X2, the one good turkey....I love your turkey!
I thought of you and Duckling today... Bill got the new lawnmower and wanted to try it out. I needed some fresh air and exercise and wanted to spend some time with him before he went to work so I went outside and walked long side him and picked up sticks to "help". I could just see you out there with Duckling following around"helping' and it made me smileI think she will kill if I take her baby. Though Duckling and I did hold it.
