EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I haven't lost an adult doe, yet. But we are pretty on top of it for antibiotics for mastitis, or retaining the placenta for too long. I have my vet on stand by, and she makes house calls for 50 bucks and gives me advice via text for free. LOL

(which is good, because with as much as I ask her, I could not afford to be charged for every question. haha)
Mine was that freak accident where she fell/got butted, went head over heals off the shed, they stood on it to reach the tree, got her head in the hog panel on the way over/down. Then her body landed on the tin on the outside of the panel that blocked the pigs view trapping her head.

If none of the others have pipped so you don't shrink wrap them when she is dried off a bit you can put her in a cup to let her heal a bit. There are some great informational posts on navel stuff on the first page. Until there are others at least she won't get pecked. Good luck with the hatch. :fl.

I am sad about loosing both of my kids, but compared to many people I am very blessed so I am trying to focus on that. I am busy with spring fencing and chores, prepping for hay including cleaning out the barn, and work. Then I am studying for my next belt test, prepping and conditioning for my trip :th
Thus I have been gone a lot. I have missed you guys, but as we know life sometimes pulls us other directions.

@Akrnaf2 Shalom Benny!
Shalom to you too dear Dax.
You mor then most people must know that we can't save them all!
It is sometimes frustrating but Sh... happens even if we give 120% of trying! :hugs

I remember that!!! That sucks so bad.

I ALMOST lost a doe when one of my other does caught her collar with her horns and strangled her. Hubby rescued her in time before we lost her. We took her collar off. None of the other goats have ever done anything weird before with collars :(

I know, I wish I had asked where I bought them, because it turns out they lost one and almost a second one from the same thing. I didn't know what was wrong at first when the first one got sick four days after I got them. I wonder if I had known if that would have made a difference?

I almost had that once. I am getting the plastic chain collars cut from the plastic chain links from Lowe's. It is supposed to break easier.

Don't think so,
Do you have any vaccinae that you could give them?
