EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Good morning! Sorry about the Alsteriers chick. (or Plasterers, as my spellcheck recommends)
Thanks that chick was always a loner. Not a good idea to be a loner in a mixed group situation. I always had to hunt for it. The other 4 stick tight to the three hens that group hatched the bunch.

I had that single chick hatch, then the hen stopped sleeping with it at about 4 weeks, they'd be together some in the day, but not at night, it's seems to be doing good and appears to be a pullet.

Nice!!! :thumbsup I want to hear how you make out.

Yes I am very egg-cited!

Ewww...ewww....ick. No just regular eggs. I dispose of old hatching eggs in a slough. I don't wanna see what's in them. *shudders* Well, sat on 1-2 days are ok.

I fed about 8 dozen eggs that were about 2 months old yesterday. Ones the broodies "might" have sat on ever night ...but that I wasn't going to eat.

OK, glad you know what I was talking about, they should start hatching 15 July! (Through to about the 25th)

I like that...

Me too. Ah well, probably would have been too much work to make it to the meetings.

Ouch! Not that hard.

Thanks; warmed up nicely out there.

Done... Now, soon as it's finished drying, I'll put in the windows & trim along the edges. Can't decide if I want white or the same red colour. Looks blotchy in the image 'cos I did half of it while I was up on the ladder and then did the lower bits after it dried.

No, I'm not that short, I just have trouble holding stuff above my head due to an old injury. :plbb

I don't see a thing wrong with it. It'll be all the same when it's all dry. Like your scaffold, too; beats renting one, as long as it's solid.

Pullet is good. I think all four altsteriers are pullets as well. So far all chipmunk ones have been. Roosters are completely yellow at hatch. Not supposed to work that way but it has been. :yesss:
