EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Good morning all!

Speaking of broodies, I had 3 very stubborn broody girls begging for some eggs so I tom the time to seperate the ayam cemani and collect eggs. Since we're leaving on vacation, I tossed them in the bator instead of trusting my chicken sitter with collecting and leaving the right eggs. Now, all the girls have decided they're done and stopped sitting and all 13 ayam cemani eggs are growing strong. These girls kill me! I swear they tricked me in to starting the bator up again!

I hatched one batch with her. It was to much to stressful for me. And to hard on the hen.
Ive broke her 3 or four times and she keeps going back in a week or so.she was trying to brood a couple days ago and today she was on the ground when I let them out so maybe she is done, I hope
I like broodies for how easy they are, but I don't like how they lose condition when I let them set. Incubators don't look ill after a batch, so, I use them.

I work every day and have several acres a couple horses, grandchildren ,dogs and a wife to keep happy. I have 3 coops a juvenile, a layer and turkey/rooster coop. total of close to 100 fowl of one kind or the other.
Incubation in a bator is much less stressful to me!
