EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Well, maybe that's it... The cold killed all the chicken eating things.
I believe you said you're insulating the new coop? Have you ever used an uninsulated up there before? I read something a couple years ago, maybe even on BYC, by a guy in cold country who never uses insulation & has never had problems because of it.

No, must have been someone else doing insulating. I've never used it, never will. Why bother when I'm going to leave the door open anyway? It'll just be more stuff for the mice to make their nests with.... Chooks are fine without it, they're tough birds. Even -40+ doesn't phase them.

Current coop has more than enough ventilation, to the point of draftiness. Haven't had any die from cold yet. Well, I don't think I have. There's been a few that keeled over in winter but I think it was just their time.

I'll take your word for it
Okay. A traditional marriage. :p

Well need to see if I can brace the 104* and get more stuff done. Finally building the pallet kitchen for granddaughter. Sink just came in for it.
You be careful! Don't overwork yourself!
