Your approach makes a lot of sense. I've actually heard of parents who let their kids touch a hot stove to "teach" them. Don't know if those stories are true; rather barbaric.It was a challenge for me to get a tiny fire started that would actually last long enough to let her cook her supper. I was determined to let her do it though. I come from a large family, and even my parents were patient enough to let us near the campfire. I'm teaching her to respect the fire. Simply screaming to stay away....
