Rattlers that far north??I think there are rattlers in parts of Sask and Alberta.![]()

Brainwashed, maybe?I am afraid we are much too stubborn to copy our wayward southern neighbours. We used to use Fahrenheit and all that mumbo jumbo, but we have seen the light! We are an improved people for it and we will succeed in converting you one of these decades.

Screen doors in submarines are lovely things. How else can one keep the bugs out?Brainwashed, maybe?
Maybe we will convert, but I'm pretty confident I won't have to see it. The general population doesn't want it or need it.
The gov't tried to shove liters down our throats at the gas pumps 45-50 years ago. That went over about as well as a screen door in a submarine, and didn't last long.
Right or wrong is irrelevant, Benny. It's what Americans want; that's all that mattersYes, yes 7. 1 billion people are mistaken and 0.3 billion of American are right, ALWAYS RIGHT!
Well, there is that!Screen doors in submarines are lovely things. How else can one keep the bugs out?
You would not like to know what I think about those primitive uneducated dangerous actions.
I hope at least you have on a sterile gown. mask and gloves when you open the door.
...I do, how did you know? You are the only person I know who disinfects more than I do in regards to their stock...lol!I have not eaten a hen yet. I have only had a few of the boys at this point, BUT I am getting enough that I hope it is all changing..
The reason I asked you to define early is because you can tell earlier than some breeds, but that is because of the size difference in the boys and girls. The legs on the boys are massive.
And the huge combs on the males start to grow large at a couple weeks of age. The boys will eat more than the girls before stopping also.
These that are hatching today are going to there new home in the next couple days, they are sold already.
I will be putting new eggs into the incubator soon.....today or tomorrow if I can get them double washed, disinfected and the incubator sterilized after I get the hatching trays sterilized. I had a leaky egg and it require extremely careful handling of the tray and the egg glued to it. Which means everything needs to be cleaned to my satisfaction again.

Some peoples kids! Why wouldn't she just go to your "front" door. Sometimes...there are no answers.Last December I had one of those temporary, seasonal, amazon delivery people open my 5ft gate that says 'Beware of Dogs'. The dummy then proceeded to walk onto my property, leaving the gate open, walking thru a handful of chickens & a duck. Didn't come to the front door, but walked thru the yard, up very obviously broken stairs, heading for my sliding glass door. The pugs were all sleeping & didn't hear her, but Mako (Super Duck) was screaming her head off, so I looked out the slider & caught this woman half way up the broken stairs... I didn't need a weapon... My mouth is lethal enough to get me arrested. I know I scared the cr*p outta her. She bolted down the stairs, turned to look at me & held out the box. Among many other things I told her to leave it at the gate where it belonged. That was months ago & I still cant imagine what she coulda been thinking.

Two things we have in common; death dagger voices and marshmallowy goodness! The body is sorta mushy & marshmallowy ...
Something must be wrong with me...it must be the chicken infliction.

I'm sorry to hear about your Dad.Morning all, sorry to be MIA this week. Came back from vacation and my dad had surgery on Wednesday that did not go as expected. He is okay, but still in ICU, and unfortunately had to have his leg amputated. I expect several more stressful months ahead.
In other news, on Monday, my daughter and I heard a teeny tiny peep coming from our run and much to our surprise found a newly hatched chick in the adult feeder. It apparently hatched without the broody that abandoned her clutch two days earlier. It fell out of the coop and down about 4 feet where it landed in the feeder. Had been pecked a good bit, but somehow survived. We brought it and other eggs in the house to hopefully hatch it a friend. So, even though I was done with chicks in the house, I now have TWO chicks in my bedroom. They are noisy little things.
Hope I didn't miss too much excitement here.

I love the trilling.

You're a nut!don't see the cookies. All I want to do is steal the cookie cooling rack to put under my waterers!![]()
Evidently. The subtle wishes of Canadians go unnoticed, period.Right or wrong is irrelevant, Benny. It's what Americans want; that's all that matters

Lol...I sometimes wonder if I didn't get more "hurt" than I did...but just shook it off. I can think of 4-5 different things that may have attributed to the issues I have now. This is one of them. You're lucky you weren't really hurt. Moose enjoys running sheep up on me, he does it every time I take my eyes off him when we are herding. He says that's how I'll learn to keep at least one eye on him. The worst part is he smiles and laughs.
Never thought about it, but it is odd.![]()
(I'm probably not the brightest bulb in the package)
That's what I thought. I haven't seen 'em. I don't want to.Rattlers that far north??![]()
