Sometimes the roosters can surprise a person. I had a rooster get out and I was following him. Before I could get him he got 5 hens and the eggs were fertile.I only had the rooster for 9 days so it wouldn't surprise me if he didn't get to all the ladies. He was for sure mating with the EE hen though. I am hoping for jubilee orpington chicks but we'll see what happens. I wanted to keep the rooster longer but I couldn't deal with the crowing at 5 A.M., haha!
