EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Perhaps it looks that way...lol. I'm a person who thinks the entire situation through first. I don't agree to something unless I am certain I can meet the requirements. And I don't bet unless I'm confident. I think I've lost 2 bets in my entire life. Maybe three. ;)
We shall see, won't we?

Hi folks! Haven't been around due to being REALLY busy.

Chickens are doing well; molting season is already upon us and Duchess has returned to being typically Ancona colored. Everyone has great big ugly bald patches, but feathers are coming back in so I'm not worried. I dosed everyone with Sevin dust since it's pretty easy to get through the feathers and down to the skin right now, and the coop's been sprayed for red mite and most of them are dying off.

Baby is doing great! Honeybee is now 28 weeks along and we're in the final stretch. I'm livid with my FIL right now though, because even though we ALL told him that my MIL bought the stroller and car seat already (for $800 which is about normal price for here) he went ahead and bought three car seats (which are supposed to cover from birth to 3 years) and a stroller from a racing car company for an ungodly $4000+. Not only do the seats he bought NOT meet current EU safety regs but they aren't even made of anything you can't get in a cheaper system. He bought them SOLEY on the "cool" factor and so he could brag to everyone that his grandson's car seat and stroller cost $4000. What's more, he never consulted us on what we wanted and never even bothered to look up the safety rating or any reviews from people who have used it. So now he's going to dig in his heels and force my MIL to return the SAFE and WELL-MADE system we bought together and were able to test and touch and try out in the store because he's stubborn and wants his overpriced seats and stroller.

And what's even worse is that I shouldn't really be mad. I mean it was a nice gesture, and a very expensive one. As a grandpa he should be allowed to spoil his grandson. But I'm still angry about it and I don't think those reasons justify me NOT being angry about it. Is it just hormones? Am I being too stubborn? Am I being unreasonable? Because I get the feeling everyone thinks I am being unreasonable for giving a damn about the seat that keeps my kid safe in the car.

:frow Let it out...let it all out ...you will feel better.
Why don't you accept his insanely unsafe expensive gift...and put it up for sale for half price...see if you can get some other dummy to buy it and pocket the money???
Then use the money for stuff you will actual need.

If we could get away with it I would! As is I'm tempted to just tell him that HE can keep it for when they watch him and want to go places and we'll keep the one MIL bought for our daily use!

Why can't you?

You could just take the gifts and put them in your garage or where ever and not use them.
Just put them out of your site. I don't see how he can MAKE you put your precious bundle of joy in them.

Have you picked out a name yet?
Is this your first child?
btw...Congrats.

It's mostly because we live above the family business, so he can always see if we're using it. Husband doesn't see what the big deal is, so I'm not getting any support over here.

As for a name, we decided on Michael (continuing with my family's tradition of going with Bible names). He's our first child, so I guess I feel like it's extra important that we're prepared properly, because things could go totally sideways and we have no other children to base the experience on.

Does husband understand that it doesn't meet the "safety requirements?"

Tell DH you just ordered 50 more chicks...see if he listens then! lol
