Hi, he is a registered purebred Nubian. He is strictly dairy goat. I think he is going to mature very nicely.

Strictly dairy...interesting! He's a nice looking fellow. Meater than I expected...that's why I had to ask. Even though goats are similar...I'm much more familiar with sheep.

I know very little about sheep except I love the meat and wool. I would like to try the milk which I have heard is good. I owned a couple of Icelandic sheep once, but I sold them. The weather here is brutal, and I couldn't monitor them well enough to keep them well.

I thought of choosing them over goats, but I really need some brush clearers, not lawnmowers. They're cute, though, and several friends of mine own them.

You will truly like how well the goats deal with brush. They are great brush and weed control animals. They have cut down my need to brush hog enormously and they have eliminated nasty things like Buck brush and blackberry Briars. Any that do come up they eat it does take a year because the first year if you put them on say in the summer they eat the plants but don't kill them off. The next spring they will eat any leaves as they try to emerge and thus eliminate most of the brush. This is the first year I have not had to brush hog. The goats eat the brush and weeds and the horses and cows alternately eat the different grasses.

I do like meat...I really miss having lambchops. We have Katahdins, so they shed...no wool. I've only seen icelandic sheep in pictures, they look nice!

I never even thought about trying the milk from sheep, although I'm aware of sheep dairies and such. These usually twin, but I was also cognizant of multiples when picking out the breeding stock. In 2004, I had 16 sets of triplets and 4 quads. The rest were twins with a couple of singles. I think that's why I never thought about using the milk. I didn't have a barn either so i didn't really have the extra room to fit in milking and such. I did have a few that were really nice to milk though...and produced a lot. I saved colostrum to have on hand "in case."

That sounds good. That is a lot of multiples. You don't eat any of your meat?

Could be heat stroke, too, if you've been working outside.
