What's up with everyone liking boring colours?

You pick base "boring" colors as you put it...and you can punch it up with colorful additives that are easy/cheap to replace if you want a change. That's basic decorating, isn't it? Like black furniture with red throw pillows. Or gray for Mikes building...with red trim.

I spell it 'colour' because it's correct. I think for a while spell check turned it into 'color', but it's given up now.

The barn is red with grey trim currently.
