Maybe I should freeze some pucks and use them for icing. That's ok...on the bench I can ice some more. I'm benched today anyway. Don't think I can do anymore. The man is going to swath.

Almost? Yes, Why wouldn't I be excited that she got to take a wonderful vacation to Greece. The only downside is that it brought my boating season to a premature end. Oh, that and she left a breeding schedule for the goats.

Got a question for y'all. I have 2 eggs outta 4 that made it to lockdown on 18th day of incubation. They arenow on day 22. Last night, end of day 21, one started moving and rocking the egg. The other hasn't showed any sign of moving, so I candled both no internal pip, tapped air sac no peeps. So I placed egg in warm water it floats and shows slight moving in water. So seems both are still alive. Although one has bigger air sac..the one that has been moving since yesterday. My question is, How long to wait before checking to see if they're positioned correctly? I want to let them hatch on their own, if possible, but am ready to intervene if absolutely needed and possible to save them. These are not chicks for a breeding program or anything, just a couple from my own flock. I just enjoy raising and hatching and am new to incubating. This is only 2nd time for me. I also am teaching my children and edcutating them on development process along the way. Any help is appreciated.

Sounds like they are doing ok. Day 22 is a little late, but not unheard of. Did you calibrate your themometer, the temp could have been on the low side, which would cause them to be late.

I hate shopping I had to go today and stop at name brand clothing on my way home from a safety meeting. I needed some white pants for the goat show Cent showing horses and goats some stupid people seem to think white is a good idea. So someone said to me when I was at the store you know those pants have a stain on them and I said yeah well I'm going to wear them to a buck show and get paid on all weekend so they're going to be yellow before it's over anyway. It was great I got a couple of size 8 white pants and a pair of capri's for $1 or $2 each and when they get ruined who cares.

A buck show this time of year doesn't sound to fun.

For those who might wonder my broody is very happy with her five. She left the eggs. I set some food and water on the floor that needs shavings this morning so she would not have to take them outside today since it was raining this morning. Eggtopsies soon.

There are laws about paying taxes, there are no laws, and should not be, requiring someone to go into crowds.

Guys can I just feed grower or do I have to have starter?

My chicks hatched by hens get Purina Flock Raiser from day 1, it's crumbles. What is the percent protein on the grower?

That duck looks healthy!

I have been feeding hatched chicks purina flock raiser and used to grind it for the first week. For the last hatch, I did not grind and they did fine. Even little chicks can eat fairly large crumbles. I would grind the flock raiser for bantams though

The first Sermas that I hatched I ground the flock raiser, I haven't been for the chicks that broody hens have hatched and they seem to be fine with it.

hello, I know it's been a long time since I came on this thread, but I've got a small question....

I've got an egg with a thicker shell than normal, will that have a negitove effect of the chick? (it's due to hatch any day now)

Most likely will be fine.

We seldom agree on anything, but on this we do....There is a possibility, I might be a tad anal when it comes to hatching........ BTW if we agree, there is no other possibilities, as we are correct!
