I think it is Beer can that uses them. He has big old naked necks I think too.

I got a bit close to the head on one and cut through the skull. They will work fine on the Australorp

I did a quick candle today (day 5) I was not expecting what I saw. Out of the 31 I set there were two clears and 29 with good development. usually fertility is in the 50-60% range.

I so wish there was a dislike button.....Day 5 candling?? Have I not taught you anything Dan?

So I get that a good hatch rate is 50%. But I’m a long ways off from hatching. I was surprised that 12 of 34 were not fertile in the first place. Other than the infertile ones I’ve only lost 3 so far. One had a crack & I tossed it. One had a free floating airsac and on day 7 a blood ring. And another blood ring today on an embryo.

It is most likely not that they were "not fertile" Just something happened during shipping to hinder any further development. Those same eggs most likely would have hatched at the place they were laid.
