this is the only breeder pen the dogs can't patrol. also the most snake effected out of all of them.

Another good reason to live WAY north of the Mason-Dixon line! I can't believe some one actually touched that ugly serpent!

they eat so much that they can't go out the small hole they came thru.
I knew there was a prob when the hens were perched and not boxed.. they haven't perched in 40 days maybe.. to scared to box now

that was a yellow rat snake from maybe a couple or 3 months ago. But I will bet anything it is another one like it. We have caught 3 in there this year.

What does boxed mean vs. perched?

the box that they sit on the eggs in. they have not left the egg boxes to sleep on the perches in awhile. no eggs, no shell fragments and especially no sticky hay in the egg boxes. the eggs broke in a snake.. no sticky mess anywhere. No embryos! sucksville daddios

I am terrified. tarzan snags them. I hold the camera.. he holds the snake.. it's in my contract.. NO touching nasty snakes.

Well, the broody hen thread is a good one. What is the problem?

My 3 eggs were due to hatch October 3-8 and none of them have, I thought a was off by 1-2 days, but this has been 3, I've candeled (I know I sholdn't of, but Lollipop is my pet so she is good with me doing that) and all I see is black, with all the lights off (I do this in the coop) and with no lights on but the candeler at night!

I don't know what to do! and I'm pretty sure she's gone on lockdown!
