No cold shutoff. If you found the cutoff for the cold side, there "should" be one like it for the hot. You followed the hot side down from the faucet and didn't find anything?
There is one somewhere. The hunters found it five years ago when I had an emergency (tub spout blew up, and the bathroom was flooding). I just didn't see where. I don't have a number to ask either. If it's just the hot side and it's a single faucet on the sink you can turn the hot water heater tank off. Problem with older valves they seldom work right again after turning on and off. Then you will need the main valve at the road. We don't have to get a permit to do the valve at the road.
Excuse me?The last picture of red handled valve looks to be in the off position anyways. Handle Cross line is off with line is on

Don't blame ya there!I was covered in webs, and just took a shower. The saga continues tomorrow.
And happily no DUX!!!

Very important.Just don't confuse your thingamaBobbies with your whirlygigs.
That's actually a very good idea. I sell chicks in spring (& yes Craigslist can be a pain sometimes). We have imported English orpingtons and live in the suburbs. Backyard flocks are a big trend here, so many people go crazy buying expensive, cute little coops or paying someone to build & install it on their property. After spending that kind of $ on a coop, why fill it with common $3 chicks? Of course, all the local towns' laws prohibit roosters, so people only want female chicks.$ is needed bad right now. Really concidering manufacturing chicken tractors with 3 to 4 chickens included. After seeing the tag on that house yesterday...

My lav orp chicks usually sell out before they can be sexed, but the prices also go up as the chicks age. (Unless I KNOW it's a male, then he's freebie companion chick to anyone who can legally keep him.) The chick sales money goes to pay for our kids' 4H projects. Most of the time, we really enjoy meeting other chicken people, but all the newbies can be very time-consuming. Some want to buy our home-made feeders & nipple drinkers. When I explain that the nipples are less than $1 & all that's needed is to drill a hole in some item from their recycle bin, they still want to take mine away from my chicks! If I have extras available, we'll sell them. I've also had people give me $ for a couple pounds of chick starter.
If you had starter coops, feeders, waterers, & other brooder accessories on hand, they would certainly sell. Some people are handy & will simply build their own versions of your ideas, but new comers really appreciate the convenience of being able to chicks & supplies. Just be prepared to spend a lot of time answering a multitude of ?s about proper care & health.
When it works out, new friends are made, our children have a play date while the chicks are being selected, we get emailed adorable photos as the chicks grow up, and repeat customers - you know....... when chicken math strikes.
