EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I have eaten so much venison when we were young and nothing else could be afforded.

Besides the southern venison and our northern swamp cedar bucks taste nothing alike.

If I had a nice corn fed one it would be edible. Personally, I prefer moose.
Hum. I never considered deer tasting that different up there. . but guess it makes sense they eat different things.
Our deer is tasty! I grew up on it too But it's opposite for me. . I prefer deer burger to beef cause I'm used to it.

Hamsters. Deer are really hamsters. And horses are gerbils.
Did you fall and hit your head hard on something?

Okay so day 20 lots of peeps! 4 external pips. Super excited! But is this one unzipping wrong? Could it be malpositioned? A minute ago I heard some frantic peeps. I’ve watched a few hatching videos and I’ve only heard them peep like that when they pop out of the shell. Is this okay or normal?

It's fine, leave it, lol. Some seem to go funny like that before they straighten out and zip normal. Congratulations!

It's hard to say. Often if you try to help, it could end in disaster. Too early & your "help" could cause injury or even death. Sometimes a mal-positioned chick can hatch. I had one that had a vertical crack line after pipping. I guess it moved funny when trying to zip. I remember it took longer but was able to eventually hatch. As a fellow helicopter chicken hatcher, I understand the urge. (especially when the chicks start playing soccer with their in-shell siblings!) I try to keep the door shut & only get involved when a chick's progress stalls for more than 24 hrs. or if the peeping weakens and I feel the chick is dying anyway.
