I'm outside before 6, since I can remember. I have a built in clock. Over a dozen Roosters crowing starting around 4:30 helps too. One starts and its like a crow fest.. non stop. Spread out on a 2 acre area. Some are faint(the far ones) and some are like freight train horns(backyard one).

I can't hear my birds crow - we have a brick house and it pretty much drowns out almost all outside noise.
When the big roosters are right by the house after the kids get up and let them out of the pens for the day I can sometimes hear them if they are right by a household window.
The brooder is set up (Duckling was happy to help), and I have a question. I'm leaving soon, and undecided. Six Amberlinks, or choose "something else (they didn't know the breed)" and risk males?

For some strange reason it not getting the media attention. The Vegas shootings had news broadcasts for eons of hours straight. This last attack was a quick report and vanished from the spotlight pretty quick..
Lol.. Ours is total Brick and solid. Double pane windows. We are lite sleepers and have a buttload of Roos. Nothing but jumbo breeds. We recently took on more Roos. The beauty of being breeders. Folks that buy our straight run chicks call us back and ask us if we know anyone who wants a free rooster(s).. We take em back.. Keep em separate for awhile for bio hazard reasons for a bit. Then stack em in the freezer like little succulent legos.
I should do a roo count again just for my own sake.
Meanwhile--back on the Brick House thingie, I love my power bills in the Fall/Winter/Spring.. The brick holds the temps and we really almost never use the central heat. We keep a fire going almost no stop and circulate the warm air from the den to the rest of the home. Last January our electric bill was in the 60's. They don't read our meter every month anymore. They go by an average power consumption. We just place a call to request a meter reading because we don't have to blast our air condition as much.
I don't believe in that average consumption garbage..
They have RF technology now and the guy doesn't need to walk up to the meter to read it anymore like the old days. Just drive by slowly while the meter talks RF to his computer and beeps for conformation of completion. What a load of fecal matter that average consume use is.. WHAT A SCAM.
When Hurricane Irma knocked our power out for that 7 days, the power company still billed us for 4 weeks! DH spit nails at them and they put credit on or next bill but still got their money that month. How many people did not notice they were being ripped off and just AUTO PAID their bills?
I heard a couple states are trying to do away with day light savings, did I hear that right? It was on the news last night while I was being over powered by the sandman..
So it is a dead end as an income source! Bread for your own consumption!
Try to breed somthing exotic I once mentioned this bird the Tinamou that have wonderful eggs
and they are a very popular meat birds in South America, or breed guinea fowl for meat, or quails for meat and eggs.
@daxigait you are missing a terrible lot on FB most good sales and quality finds will be in our groups. not many even bother with CL anymore Thats why I am on FB for my pups poultry and now goats.
I am recently investigating FB for poultry in my area. CL is failing us anymore. CL users are wanting something for nothing anymore. And most don't bother to read the ad details. Times have changed.
STOP TEXTING ME... PLEASE>..
We put in every ad "PLEASE NO TEXTING" but still almost nothing but texts off subject of the description placed within the ad..
Told this to my husband. He asked why I hadn't hugged him. I said because he was in dirty clothes (he was) and he asked..."Do you think your chickens are clean?"
He has a point.
