Cabbage leafs put on the br.... help graitly against milk congestion
( if that is the problem. ....)
Almonds, fenugreek, and Garlic help in the production of milk.
Garlic is extremely helpful! The odor, that pass to the milk don't bother the baby and make him suckle longer, which in turn activities the suckling reflex that increase the milk production.

I figured out what caused it, it was the nursing bra I was using! I have two kinds I use, one of which has a wire up the side under the arm. My midwife and I think that the wire caused pressure on the ducts under the arm which caused the infection. I've stopped using them and now it's just bringing back my production. I'll definitely try garlic and almonds, I'm already doing fenugreek tea.

Definitely having ups & downs with this hatch!

Set 4 eggs under Cookie (one was a silkie pullet egg which I doubted was fertile)
Went to candle day 6 & found 5 eggs. ????? Three were developing, so I tossed 2.
Around day 12, Cookie got off nest for 5 hours b/c she returned to wrong nest. (Temp was around 35'F !)
Candled at 2 weeks & all 3 orp eggs still looked OK.
Then the "Cookie crumbled". She got off the nest & never returned.... but our inexperienced broody silkie pullet took over. (She was acting slightly broody, but I ignored it thinking that the cold temps would break her of the idea.) I left her on the nest out of curiosity & not wanting to kill the eggs. She took long breaks daily but always returned to her nest.
Tues was day 21 = Nothing (Not surprised)
Wed morning, I saw a pip. BUT Eggs were cold & the silkie was walking around on break.:barnie
I put her back on the eggs and hoped for the best. Last night I heard peeping but still felt 3 eggs.

This morning = one black orp chick:love

:jumpy + 2 pips :)
(one of the pipped eggs was also peeping)
My silkie pullet stayed on the nest this morning, so I'm hoping for more hatching later today.

oh BENNY

I forgot to tell you!

HarmonyAnns hen was sick with something we have no clue what, she was just sitting in the corner, I fed her whey from the moz cheese instead of water for two days and Ill be darned if she didn't get up and walk away from sickness!! so until I know what to do with the whey I put in waterers and feed to chickens!

The Brahama on the left, she is still kicking!! View attachment 1169459
Was your whey produced using lemon juice or citrus acid as the agent to make the curds for your cheese?

Where is everyone?
I was w/hub cap sticking a bucket full of needles in young Hampshire Pigs. Then I photographed some of them for our advertisements/classified ads.
Watched DH get pig poo mud in his mouth and turn green.
Berkshires are next. In about 10 mins. Taking a break. Than all the adults. Gotta stab 1ml of penicillin in my buck buddy too.
Needless to say it's needle day..
