I have 2 pullet black australorps approx. 2 y/o. They are jumbo, but small compared to that photo. Excellent egg layers, gentle and non aggressive. Very please with that particular breed. If I had an aussy male I would breed more.
My blues are growing like weeds. I think I have 2 males in that run.. If so..
more baby blues next season..

They are my breeders.. gotta offer something different than the classified ads around here are listing. Last season it was mottled java.. that is how we sell. Offer something they don't have.. RI Reds/Rocks/ Golden Buffs flood the ads.. OMG Red Sex Links... Flood the classifieds..
Our Javas sold because we had the only listing for them. This spring... the blues will pay my bills..
Also my Red & Blue Splash Wyandotte sold out first of every batch. Couldn't keep em in stock.
When we first got into pigs. NOBODY sold Berkshire.. We were getting $200 for a 6 w/o piglet. Now the market is flood with them and we can't give them away..
You have to sell what is rare geographically wise.

He's more of a "medium" .... and that pic was taken at 1 year old. He's a little more filled out now. Moose is A LOT taller & also heavier. (about 13 lbs) We have a lot of hawks. My hope is that they'll think twice before swooping with these large birds about.

Our biggest breed was some 2011 import Bielefelders. This guy was almost 5 months in this pic.

Moose is fitting. I have a freezer flock of roos right now (20ish). I have to drag my feet on the ground in a sliding motion at feeding time.An ocean of Roobies. Some pretty big boys. No where close to that size.. mama-meh-yah.
