Infections are treated. Rehabilitation now. Got to get muscle back. Built a harness to suspend him to exercise his limp legs. Starting off slowly of course. Not out of the woods yet. But no more pain and suffering.
The hard work has just begun. If he can't stand after a bit of therapy, then I'll make that toughest call. Hub has been ready. Not me.

I kept him to breed lavs this year. He's good with the hens (no messed up back feathers) & great with the kids (swings & kids running around, don't freak him out). He's massive but had one minor flaw for us: He liked to beat up his father (the former head rooster). The father is a pet. Not only is the dad a beautiful 3 yr old blk/lav split, he's an awesome protector & I've never had to worry about him being held by my kids. He'll let them do anything to him.

The blk/lav split is DD's fav & it was sad watching him get bullied all summer. Moose didn't bully any other roos, just his dad. So we decided to keep the dad and grow out another lav roo to replace Moose. I found a home for Moose. The family wanted a roo to guard their flock, and I was happy not to have to process a good roo like Moose.

It's nice to see him as flock leader again.

THE ABANDONED BATCH​

13 beautiful and super healthy chicks born 2 days after Thanksgiving. The lady who put a small deposit down prior to setting the eggs has dropped off radar.
7 are Mottled Java. Now listed for $1 each but must take all. With $13, I will still come out ahead because of the deposit..
Had a call this morning with an offer for $10. It was in a text message from the ad that says no text messages please.

3 of these I love! But my marriage is more important I suppose Plus my promise I made to get some duckies..
