EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Same here. I think they are calling for snow....our first measurable....sometime this weekend. Maybe enough to have a white Christmas.

Frankly, I have 40 some odd young Bantams that have never seen snow and I'm dying to see their reaction to it!
40! Goodness woman, have you been hatching non stop since your last check in?

One of my Chantecler cockerels still refuses to set foot outside in the white stuff. He's gonna have a long winter if he keeps this up.

My Jace just flies wherever she can and sits where there's no snow... which is usually right smack dab on top of my tuque.

I had broodies off and on all spring and summer bless their little feathered hearts. And I kept shoving eggs under their fluffy little butts.

DH told me I never had to worry about Marek's taking all of my chickens because my chickens were always self replicating more chickens for me. He's right, they are.

Right now I have about 40 bantams and bantam crosses and only 18 of my standards left. Yep, Marek's hasn't been kind to them but the little guys are proving to be tough. Hope they keep it up.

Nothing in the brooder right now. If I could get my hands on some Egyptian Fayoumi hatching eggs I'd have it out in an instant.

Santa brought me an early delivery of a prefab cedar coop kit to set up for my broodies and babies.

I need SPRING! and FAYOUMI HATCHING EGGS!

:hugs If you find spring, send some to me. I am already regretting getting 9 ducks and there's still 3--4 more months of cold.

Temps here start to moderate by the end of March. 3 more months and we haven't really had any winter yet. It's been very mild and dry. I'm call it Falter, Not Fall and not Winter. I hate it.

I cannot imagine dealing with young ducks right now.

I have one little pullet that gets a wild hair idea about once a week that she wants eggs to sit on. I keep swiping her eggs and sitting her back up on a roost to cool her belly off until the next time she gets the wild hair crosswise again.

Niice. I'm moving in. :love

They are a pain in the butt. Right now they need baths wicked bad but it's too cold to run a hose. :(

I have several 1 gal bowls out all day, but they're still dirty.
