Oh, I forgot to respond to that one, sorry. I'm kinda stumped on that one, if it isn't frostbite.
Generally frostbite rapidly turns to blisters.

I am very tired, but well. No kids, and the chickens are fine if disgruntled that I came in for a head count after dark. They don't like my headlamp.

I have never had my chickens out free ranging when we have snow as I think it makes them targets for hungry predators. I am also only two years in so frostbite was my best guess.
