I've been offline for about a day and a half. I was typing something in the dark and several fingers hit several keys at once. All of a sudden each keystroke caused an unexpected result. If I typed an S it printed 2sx. D key yielded ekd. O key yielded ol[. . H became hnjm. V became fvb. B keystroke displayed vb. / displayed ;/p.
I tried system restore twice but it failed. I ended up doing a system reset, restoring windows and defaults, to no avail.
I was about to set up a new computer I bought but never took out of the box when I decided to to hit Control, Shift, Alt and several letter keys in the lower left side at once and it corrected the problem.
I'm sure someone on here knows what happened.

Could it be that some keys where pressed?

That's exactly what happened but I didn't know which ones.
And it prevented me from searching google or some computing sites for a solution.

Poor Ralphie and his animals. I saw that Duluth was -37F last night. It was 3 at my house.
Tomorrow will be our first day inching above freezing in 2 weeks.
I know Ralphie, I'm whining again.

You were in a binary script mode.

That's exactly what happened but I didn't know which ones.

It doesn't matter which one, because in this situation you can't input the computer with the correct information .
