EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Well... I candled. 2/14 showed possible signs of life. One of them had veins attached to the shell this early in incubation? Is that normal? From broody experience, the veins stay on the yolk for the first week. I am really excited for baby chicks!
Veins cannot attach to the shell--There is a membrane between the shell and the albumin(white).

Sounds like all is well! It is good to see veins at 4 days. You will see a lot more by day 10. Your Rooster is doing his job

:wee

You setting upright or on the side?

He is really big and his comb ends up way at the top near the metal I think. If I ever build another coop like that one I will not put the roost at the higher point of a slanted roof.

Whites: Why do the young doubt us? We know what we did and they refuse to listen-----It is so sad----- to see them not benefiting from our accumulated knowledge.
That's a true fact (as opposed to an untrue fact which, by definition, cannot exist 'cause if it were untrue it wouldn't be a fact, but I digress). Unfortunately, every new generation must learn the hard way; the elders, unless they're American Indians, never know anything.
