@mlm Mike I had a kid born this morning real feel right now is 8°. I dried him off before I left for work, but the first time doe did not go immediately back to him. If even if she goes back to him will he survive these temperatures or do I need to try to get him some heat somehow? (Send a friend)

I would have a friend check on him, if you can. Are they inside in a kidding pen? I've never had a doe not be all over her kids.

She is very nervous about people. No kidding pen yet. That was a weekend plan. Neighbor kid just checked. She did go back and they are laying down together at the edge of the shed. That is a relief.

It is Gwen. Of course she could not wait till the warmer weather that is supposed to be here this afternoon and weekend.

@DwayneNLiz The coop he is in has a tin roof too. I will definitely alter the layout moving the roost for further coops, and put some luan under the tin.

If he's dry he may be alright, if Momma will lay down so he can use her body heat.

I dried him pretty well with the towel. She is with him now. She just was nervous about me so she didn't go right back to him, and I was paranoid that by drying him he might smell odd, and she is a first time frame nervous. I had a neighbor check by looking from a distance. Thanks

its probably a good thing really, he'll be less prone to frostbite next year

i had mt better FBCM get frostbite when we had that crazy tempo spike. didnt think much about it bet i think the metal roof on the coop got condensation on it and caused him to get frost bite. oh well

lol, he certainly liked to help
