EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

lol.. last season we hatched close to 50 roosters.. far greater pullets. But nevertheless... the "Roo Factor" is in the cards. Our farm was SO LOUD! non stop crowing. When a processor finally made a decent
offer, it was so peaceful and quite here it was like soundless. You could hear nothing but country sounds. From dusk til dawn, dozens of roos were calling back & forth and then it was quite.
So now when we hatch it is sorta like a inside joke... another roo..
I had to jump thru hoops to get them. I have to wash dishes and do laundry at the White house for 14 days..

I agree with you Whites.. View attachment 1249780

Is that because the brooder will be unattended for a week? Could someone take them in for that duration?

What-a-cutie! Pin striped for racing! lol

You are taking all the magic away!:smack
You are sounding like me though..View attachment 1249791

Woke up this morning to 4 Roosters in my home.
When I open the door they were all huddled together coming up with a plan for a jail break. I think they were going to stand on each others shoulders and push the lid off and get away!
As soon as I cracked the lid I heard one say.. be cool shhhh.View attachment 1249824 View attachment 1249824 View attachment 1249824 View attachment 1249824

Rooster missing from the country estate :gig, not the lake cottage, no poultry or livestock allowed there.

Getting back to the subject of incubation for a moment.
Some of you may have remembered that I've long recommended both the Brinsea Spot Check thermometer but also the Thermoworks pocket digital RT301WA.
If you google for the Thermoworks one, I caution that you buy it from Thermoworks and NOT Amazon, Walmart or other source. Apparently there are counterfeit Chinese thermometers branded as real Thermoworks products.

Warning regarding ThermoWorks products at Amazon, eBay and other sites Less

The lowest internet prices for ThermoWorks products are available at thermoworks.com and through special offers received by subscribers to ThermoWorks emails.

Amazon, eBay, walmart.com, sears.com and their sellers are NOT Authorized Dealers. There are unscrupulous sellers at those sites who have purchased ThermoWorks products at retail prices and are then re-selling them at significantly elevated prices, sometimes 2 to 4 times the Authorized List Price. After receiving numerous complaints from customers who were victimized by those listings, we felt it was important to do what we could to warn unsuspecting consumers.

Furthermore, we have received a growing number of complaints that such sellers are offering counterfeit, copycat, stolen units, and "Open-Box" units as authentic NEW ThermoWorks products. Thus, from January 1st of 2016, technical support and warranty coverage are only available on ThermoWorks products that are purchased direct from ThermoWorks or from ThermoWorks' Authorized Dealers. In this way we know the consumer is fully protected and we can protect our reputation for treating customers fairly

I was looking at their thermometers for BBQ the other day and saw that warning. Thanks.
