EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

For anyone interested, I'm getting another prefab with an attached covered run that's 215 x 95 x 103 cm. I'm buying from a different brand that's really well-trusted here and I'm going to use what I learned from the current prefab to make sure we don't have the same issues we had with the current one.

There's not a lot of ventilation in the prefab we're looking at so I'm probably going to install vents, caulk any gaps where mites can nest, whitewash or paint the inside, and install vinyl flooring for easy cleanup. Also going to use pavers along the edge of the run enclosure to make sure everything is level and fill the inside of the run with sand and pea gravel to discourage mud. We get rats out there too so I might also consider burying hardware cloth under the pavers so rats can't dig in.

After all that's done my summer projects will be making a rain barrel watering system and a pvc autofeeder. Fun times are ahead!

My Blue Australopithecus's are almost ready for breeding!!:wee

I had a blue Jersey Giant that would fly over a 6 foot fence to get to the goodies in the garden.
What I love about Penedesencas is that they prefer to run than fly. Though they can fly to the top of a building if pressed, without danger they're content to stay inside a 3 foot fence. I've kept a flock of roosters inside a 2 foot fence.
They may sneak under a fence but rarely go over one.
All you have to do is open the gate differently for these guys to go side ways. No wonder they are endangered

Not to long ago I quoted something about us doing Show Birds back in the day, before we got into this massive disorganized egg laying mess nowadays.
I can't find that post where @BantyChooks replied with "you did show birds?".
So here Banty, just for you. Cleaning out our spare bedroom on this rainy flor-ruh-duh morning, I thought of you when I stumbled upon a box under the bed!
