Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away. Now my lizard is not here with me today, oh how I believe in yesterday.
Suddenly, there is a popping noise where silence use to be. There's a weird smell in front of me.
Oh I believe in yesterday.
Why did my lizard have to toast? I don't know..
Now I long for yester-day-a-a.

:hugs I am sorry for your loss!

If you have had chickens for several years, you might have paid attention a few years ago when the USPS was trying to drastically raise the cost of shipping chicks, and only deliver two months a year (it could have been more, but you get the point). They were not going to give the poultry better care though.
A young lady JUST got her chicks about thirty minutes ago after four days. They were delivered to her house. I suspect to get them to her ASAP. Four have now died.
So glad the change was denied.

Another reason they're neat. Unfortunately the last time I tried them they both ended up dead in a week. Dummies.

Not much meat to them, though.

:drool :drool
I have heard that they will fly up into a low roof and kill themselves!

I wanted to share a mite experience I had this week.

A person in Department here asked about treating mites. She was a bit taken aback at my strong suggestion that DE would be useless for mites. I asked her why she did not want to use the Elektor she bought a couple of years ago. She said she would like to use something less extreme. I told here that Elektor was certified for use on chickens and has been quite effective here(mites are resistant to most mite poisons here in California).

When she left, the plan was to use neem oil on the chickens and elektor to treat the coop.

Today she told me that she called Elektor for advice and they had a Veterinarian talk to her about using elektor for treating the mites. She used it on the chickens and the mites are dead now! She will give a repeat treatment in 14 days
