EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

My heat lamp does not seem to be making the little chicks that just hatched very happy. What does everyone think about putting the day old chicks in with 2 week old chicks?

I've done it. Worked fine. If possible, waiting until the day-olds are about three days old helps give them a bit of speed and resilience.

Howdy Howdy! Good morning.. woke up to the 40's today.. You Northie's must have got something bad last night? Tonight is a frost warning..
Somebody snuff the groundhog for me.
Depends on your definition of bad. :P Supposed to be a snow system coming through the prairie provs tomorrow.

Don't believe I would. The little guys wouldn't be able to defend themselves, and the "big bullies" would probably peck them to death.

I don't have any pictures of when they were first introduced, but the little guys in this picture were put in at about ~3 days old. Maybe a week, I'm not sure—it's been two years since the photo. You can see there's quite the size difference.
