EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Your moving? I hope it goes well, that can be very stressful. I am no help on the hatch without experience, but I would put them in to keep it close enough that she takes them all.
Yes, I am moving for the first time in 10 years & we have accumulated so much junk that we need to get rid of! On top of that, our house that we are moving to will still be in the middle of renovations when we get there, so we'll be like living out of one room for a while. We decided that we better move before my kids get too old though, cause when they are teenagers it will be too hard on them I think.
It will be nice to have our own house though. :-)

I had two deliveries this morning and both of them have taken their time so I've been using the time to nap since I'm so tired. These four and five hours of sleep nights are killing me. Hopefully I can get these babies to adjust to a bucket this weekend so I just have to keep it full of couple of times a day and not have to deal with this 4 times a day feeding stuff.

What kind of babies do you have?

Oh, :lau work deliveries in the truck. The kids were quads and twins on Easter Sunday, and twins the Monday before that I have to bottle feed because the dam doesn't want to nurse them, just clean and talk to them
The quads require extra food and help nursing so I have been holding them and helping with the big to them teats, and bottle feeding on top of the five other bottle kids I have bringing me to eleven :th
Plus my normal crazy work and chores.
Sleep????

Sounds busy! I love baby goats though. I volunteer at a little farm where they bring kids on field trips to learn about farm animals, ands the babies are awesome! The Nigerian dwarf kids are so tiny; they are the size of cats. :loveI hear goats are a lot of work though.

Nubians mostly. Thankfully, the two Joe's that I bred the Buckeye lost two were very prolific with tudos he got seven children only one daughter but at least I got one. I think the yearling he went over several fences to breed is also bread, but she's not due till June. And he did get a son and daughter with the grade though that he went over the fence to breed too. For less than a year old he was very good at jumping fences and very interested in the girls. I guess in the long run for me that turned out to be a good thing since I lost him at a year. He was looking at electric fences for next year.

They definitely can be a lot of work. It is not too bad if you keep your numbers down. The biggest problem with mine is that I have two does with CAE which requires that I pulled the babies in order to prevent transmission of the disease. Then I have several older does that I've gotten from places the one is the one that rejected her kids for the most part, and the other with quads is just a little overwhelmed. Most of my others have their twins and have no problems go right on.

I also refuse to dump my bucklings cheaply like some people do. I refuse to give away Bloodlines I work hard for cheaply. I'd rather spend the time and effort now raising them and then when it's time for breeding season if people want bucks then they can pay me for them.

These quads have a lot of potential. Their dams full sister took second or third I can't remember which at Nationals a couple of years ago and their grandma just won nationals this last fall (buck side). On the buck side the daddy is on the elite sire list and Grandpa is also on the elite sire list and was National High Point sire a couple of years. He passed away in February same as his grandson actually.
That doe was a very exciting Craigslist find sometimes I just sit around and check the Bloodlines of animals put up there is registered for sale. Some people don't know what they have, a lady paid $1,200 for that doe originally and then sold her for a few hundred of this old lady and then she got too old to deal with them and she sold that dough to me for $225 I was jumping up and down excited.
I know about the $1,200 because I know the person who owns the ranch where she came from originally.

So are you moving to a new place or just changing houses? How are your kids doing?
