EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Wow, that stinks. I hope everyone is ok.
The roofs were canvas. Weathered. They could have taken the high wind gusts fine though. But it was tree branches that took em out. Once they became pierced, then the wind upon stretching them started ripping them. Expanding like bubbles. Eventually turned to ribbons The semi funny part was when we we trying to secure a loose end, I was holding onto a corner. It lifted me off the ground like a para-glider being pulled by a boat. Instinct made me hold on tight but hub yelled let go before I got to high off the ground.
Interesting day. The re-roof has effected egg production as well. It's down 50%. I assume stress on the birds having their security jeopardized has stressed them out. Some are dropping eggs in the run still today.

Wow, that would have been a little frightening. I'm glad you are ok and hope the chickens resume to normal production level.

I can just picture you flapping around in the wind, with a death grip on that canvas, 15' off the ground :lau
I used to have what I not-so-affectionately called a "paper building"; one of those "portable garages" you see advertised all over, made of what passes as canvas over a quanset hut-like frame. It lasted about two years before the heavy winds shredded it. I managed to salvage a few intact pieces; one of them is the cover over one of my runs. Reflective silver on one side, white on the other; works like a champ.

As any humble American should, we proudly display the American Flag in our front yard. Last evening upon BBQing, we noticed a visitor stopped by.
