I was surprised to walk outside into snow last night. We had about half an inch, and it was still coming down pretty good. This morning, the ground is almost totally bare again.

the chickens were all poofed up and the goats are shaking. We've been pretty warm in the fifties and then all the sudden the bottom dropped out. we hamad one real freeze and a couple of nights near in the low 30s and other then that always had several in the twentiex. That's the biggest problem here. Nobody can quite get used to things because of the swings we were 65 and then we were 16.

It seems there are a lot of predators around this year. Especially hawks! I lost three in 2 days.
I’m down to 3 Pekin and my Muscovy was due yesterday. She has six eggs. This is her third clutch this year, and she only successfully hatched one, who died soon after. I’m giving her a few more days until I put her in the coop with the others.
Steven is in the coop with a SLW and RSL. I still have 3 SPR boys loose. One is sleeping in the open still, and the other two have taken to the woods. I’m still debating about them. I might be able to lure them into the coop.
No goats. The urge is still there though.

I hope she is successful. I have not lost adults, but quite a few chicks. Only one cockerel, but nine pullets. So I had only a few pullets make it this year, and had to get rid of more then ten cockerels. I do have several that started to lay last month so they wlwi help this winter. It has been a poor year for eggs. Another four should be laying by February. I bought twelve Isa, but only these four have made it.
