EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I cant even remember when I started to run at 100.5 to be honest, cleaner hatches, no goop left in the shells after hatch, nice healthy chicks. Like I said before running lower at all under 99.8 is bad. even if its fluxing under those few minutes add up in the long run. I have no clue where anything is on this new place BYC moved to, but I did have detailed explanations etc for temps. @BantyChooks ?? anyways, When I lock down I lower temps to 100 and when I see a pip I go 98.5 yes 98.5. Good Luck maybe sweets knows where stuff went over here. sorry this place confuses me with new layout
I can try and dig through the google doc we had up for the notes, but things really got screwed up during the changeover. :(

Nearing end of day 20 and no activity. I was expecting them by now, since I incubated at a higher temp. There was movement in all 10 when I candled on day 18. Can I sneak one out and candle? Or do I resist the impulse and leave them alone? I await your orders!

I’d wait. Even at higher temps one maybe two starts early and some go a day late. With majority hitting right on. I’ve found the less I fiddle the better the hatch.

100% agree.
In fact just candle at day 10 to toss the duds, and again at day 17 prior to lockdown and then walk away...
Best hatches happened on weekdays when there was no chance of fiddling

Learnt the hard way
