EE and australorps

I got my EE in the mail, they have been in 3 days. The australorps arrived also ALL cracked except 4 and I doubt those 4 will do anything with the way they must have been jarred, etc... When is a good day to candle? How early can you tell and at what point do you throw them out? Just for kicks I candled some tonight, but the shells are dark and I can't see hardly anything.

Wow...Almost all broken? That's rough...Hope the seller refunds or replaces!!
I got my Buff Orp eggs (none broken, thank god) and just put them in today!
Good luck, we'll be hatching a few days apart but keep us posted!

if they have pretty thick shells and and are dark it might be 10 days thats when i really knew what was what,good luck with the final four

I contacted the seller and she offered my choice of a refund or to resend eggs. I have one problem though. When I looked at my EE last night it appeared that one egg might have cracked, but after examination I really couldn't tell which one, grrr what do I do?

When you candle them it is pretty easy to see hairline cracks. I had a bad batch of eggs come through the mail, out of 36, over half were out right busted up or cracked. Over the 3 weeks of incubating the survivors I ended up throwing alot more away because they were clear or started to seep and were rotten.
I ended up with 4 hatching. One of the ones that did hatch had a hairline crack in it, but had something growing at day 8, so I took a candle and dripped melted wax to seal the crack. Don't know if that helped or not, but it was one of the lucky ones to make it.
Don't give up on a busted up batch of eggs, you might have a lucky one that want to come out and meet you. Just don't get your hopes up. Expect alot of failure and revel at the survivors.

Aloha Cory, how is the weather there? We visited Maui two years ago and I have been dying to come back there!!!!! Thanks for the vote of confidence. That is good to hear that you had some surviors!
I will just have to wait and see!!
