If you are going to let them run around the yard I see no real point in clipping their wings. They really don't wonder all that far from their coop.
My chickens have never gone over the four foot fence that surrounds my yard when I let them out of their run.
If you have hawks around clipping their wings will slow them down if they need to escape quickly.
