Hi! I was gifted this Easter Egger Chick. This is Zoey! I was told it was female but I wanted to see what you all think. It is my first time having an EE. I heard that experienced EE owners can identify them from just looking at them. Would appreciate the help.

Have any idea what they will look like as an adult by any chance? Thanks for your help!

At this age they are far too young to determine their sex. Around 8 weeks you should be able to know however, with cockerels you can sometimes tell as early as 4 weeks. If they have a bright red comb from 4-8 weeks with lots of comb and wattle growth then they'll be a cockerel, else likely a pullet.

EE's are also not an autosexing breed unlike Red Sex Links or Black Sex Links, etc.

Yes! Chicks tend to have light coloured eyes that will darken with age. They'll be anything from an orange-ish colour to a deep dark brown.

They are very pretty and you never know what you're going to get because they are a mixed breed. I have a few like her in the brooder now and I love watching how they change. They also have great personalities! Enjoy!

This is so helpful! Thank you! Is there a way to tell by their personality? Or are just EE extremely friendly as chicks either way? From my Experience the super friendly ones ended up being roosters 😭 (they weren't EE though)

Not really. I've had super forward and friendly hens and the same with roosters. Just consistent handling will help. Hopefully they aren't a cockerel but only time will tell.
