Not sure if this should be here... or in breeds.

I have a little cutie EE who was supposedly an Amerucana from Ideal. She started life as a grizled brown, and is now mostly white with pretty black edging on her feathers. She has always had flyaway whiskery feather under her chin giving her a sort of messy look and has been smaller than all of her cohorts (but feisty as heck).

They are all about 8 weeks and starting to their first molt and growing like weeds, and I have been watching her little neck because it is bare underneath. I am almost certain no one is picking on her...she actually picks on the bigger BO chickens. (my golden retreiver lap chickens).

There are no pulled feathers evident or sores or reddnes in her skin but JUSt her bare little neck, that extends under her beak in that width down to her breast feathers. Her vent and back look fine too.

Is he just growing faster than she can feather? Or is she going to get a beard to fill in this space eventually? Should I worry?

Thanks!

I have no idea, can you get a picture of it so the experts can take a look?

Well I spoke too soon actually cause I looked at her chin in the sunlight this morning and I saw tiny little feathers sprouting that look just like her regular neck feathers. She was rather indignant that I thought she was bald... hehe.

Here are some baby pics... she is about 4 weeks here... much smaller than her broodermates. She is standing between the two RIR's Charlotte and Juliet.

Here she is now, the second picture is blurry she is a fast one, but it shows her size and how different her feathers are.
