I have a super-puzzling EE that we can't figure out gender on, and I was wondering whether EE earlobes turn red with the comb? "Sneaky," our mystery chicken, has very pale earlobes, although the comb is quite red (doesn't have any wattles, which is common for EEs). My BO cockerel has a red comb, wattles, and earlobes, so I was wondering whether normally EE cockerels get red earlobes as their combs redden.

Those of you with EEs, did your cockerel have red earlobes as his comb got red? Or did that come later (or maybe not at all? I've never had EEs before)?

Thanks so much for your help!

My EE cockerel's lobes went red with his comb. BUT, I also have EE hens with lobes that are all white like the mediterranean breeds. And no, they don't lay white eggs.

I have a thread with pictures here. Please feel free to chime in!

I was just asking a specific question about the earlobes in this thread, because I was wondering if it would help us figure it out. Thanks!

debid - Thank you! I guess perhaps the earlobes won't help too much in helping us figure out gender, then.
