Morgan, good call on the roo. I agree his color pattern was a giveaway. By the time you can see the saddle feathers on an EE, they are usually crowing already.
They come in at the base of the tail on the rump area. Roos tend to be pointy and dangle down over the side, where girls are usually more rounded. But use caution with that on EEs, as I've seen girls with pointy hackles and saddles on these.
