I was cleaning out the coop yesterday and heard a funny noise so I froze for a second and it happened again, I stepped out of the coop and witnessed my 8 week old cockerel crowing! I was a funny sounding little crow, I had to laugh. Do EE's usually crow a this young an age? He even tried to mount what looks like his favorite pullet, is this normal?

I've had chicks try and crow at about 5-6 weeks before, they sound so silly!

My BR started this week at 7 weeks and I posted about it. Other people have much more precocious ones than ours, like a few days to few weeks. Now, about the mounting... I hope I have a long, long wait for that.

I went in the run today and sat for about a half hour and he crowed again, I laughed out loud and my wife was in the yard doing some gardening and she stopped and busted a gut too. It was a great day..

EE stands for Easter Egger, these type of chickens lay blue/green eggs, and ae usually mixed with an araucana/americana.

Oh! OKay - thank you!

I have an EE then. I figured out RIR and BO, but I need to learn what some of these other acronyms are! Like SLW ... ?

When I first joined Backyard Chickens Forum, I was in the same boat, I had NO idea what any of these letters stood for! LOL. But SLW stands for Silver Laced Wyandotte. Very pretty birds!!
