EE Egg Colors

Same here but where to buy.......... Did I read somewhere that the Auracana's were the only true blue egg layer's? Not sure where you're from but I don't personally know of anyone that has these chickens. I'm not sure that I want to but egg's and have them shipped. I'm just starting winter and temps will get cold. I don't want little chicks in a brooder over winter. And I'm still cleaning that fine dust out of my bathroom from last spring. I'll have a different set up this year for sure. I also want to find some Buff Orpington's that are quite light and bright. My neighbor's down the road have some but no rooster.
I'm going to look for some over the winter. ( the EE's that I hatched, I got by watching my local Craigslist and bought a few eggs here and there. It would be nice to do the same.)

I got my ladies from Orscheln Farm and home. They order from Estes Hatchery. The Easter Eggers are sold as Ameraucanas.

I have 7 hens:

1 Brown Leghorn : Laying : White Eggs.
2 Silver Laced Wyandottes : 1 Laying : Brown Eggs
4 Easter Eggers : 3 Laying : Green - Blue

I kind of have a good idea what my remaining SLW will lay, and I still have one surprise color left for my carton as I wait for my remaining EE who isn't laying yet to start.

Overall, I am pleased with my assortment, though I intended to have 3 brown layers, but one of the SLWs turned out to be a Roo.

From left to right:
2 white eggs from Zoe, my Leghorn
2 bluish eggs from Yolanda, EE
1 pale blue green from Bridget, EE
2 green eggs from Kaylee, EE
1 Brown from Inara, SLW.

An interesting note... and I am sure this is purely coincidence (unless Estes is breeding for this).
But... it seems that the lighter the brown on my EE, the lighter the brown pigment on their egg, and thus, the bluer their egg.

Do you have a pic of the EE chicken in your avatar. She looks orange and white? If so do you also have a chick pic? I have an orange EE chick that is feathering in orange and white and was curious to how she could possibly turn out.

She is the yellow chick with just a touch of silver on the back of her head and back, #2 in the pic.

We have EEs from Murray McMurray, and they are laying on the spectrum from dark olive green to a nice clear blue. Dont' think I have a brown or pink layer in there, but with my hen numbers it's pretty much impossible to tell without trap nesting.

I always find Wyandottes to lay a pinkish egg. <shrug>

Our Wyandotte's eggs are pink at first, but after they are exposed to the air for a little bit they darken up to a nice brown color.

In fact, I've noticed that almost all of the eggs seem to darken and intensify a little... Kaylee's green eggs for example... when she lays them, they're a kind of dull bluish-gray green... after a day they're that nice 70's avocado or sage green color.
