EE Feather pattern and egg color genetics...(hope this is in the right place)

Thank you, Suze! That's quite the compliment coming from you. I can't use gene designations, so my explanations are in the simplest terms possible, ones even I would understand, LOL.

I know the genetics I have to know, my BBS genetics as well as my barred genetics, some pea combed stuff for my Ameraucanas, and that's about it. I've learned a bit about mille fleur and porcelain and lavender in the last year, too, since I have porcelain D'Anver roosters over mille fleur D'Anver hens and a lavender Cochin thrown into that mix, but a genetics guru, I am definitely not!

I try, and sometimes I succeed, and sometimes I just further confuse. You did a good job of explaining simply, yet thoroughly.

I am interested to know what traits are dominant and recessive. Not breeding, just curious. Is pea comb dom over straight? Blue over black? What about feathered legs and Polish-type topknots (crests?name?)? Any basic info you have would be appreciated.

One gene at a time. That is the way I learned. And it's like math, cummulative. THe more you know, the easier it is to learn and understand just a bit more.
