Love Gertrudes color, do you have any pics of her at 6-7 weeks posted anywhere? I have one that is colored somewhat similar, would like to compare...

Nothing at 6-7 weeks. I took pics at 3 weeks when the chest feathers came in and then waited for the head/beard before I took more. But here she is at 3 weeks (you can just see the laced neck feathers coming):

And the day I got her (lots of gray and brown in a fairly light chipmunk pattern -- she also had a thick, charcoal gray stripe down her back that doesn't show with the photo angle):

So cute, and what a beauty she turned out to be! Hoping my BOO is a girl and not a Roo, maybe she'll look like Gertrude! Here she is now at 3 weeks (https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=523759), a little similar looking don't you think? Except Boo was darker than Gertrude when (s)he was a baby chick...

The coloration is different (Gertie's chest came in a rose shade and the rest of her was charcoal and brown) but that comb does look very familiar. You can see how it has changed in appearance now and how it still looks nothing like the others. Clark's comb looked like Pearl's does now when he was a youngster but his peas plumped and then the side rows sprouted when his comb started to turn red.

But, I've been told that this isn't how it works so even though I watched it happen, I'll give the standard newbie disclaimer.

Oh, and Hazel and Gertrude have some thick legs, too. Pearl has twigs. I blame mixed breed syndrome. [shrug]
