Hello everyone;

Thank you for your help. I am starting to second guess myself...so what do you all think? Pullets or cockerels?

These were all hatched from blue eggs; parent was likely an English Orpington.

Total of 3 chicks.

Sorry for so many photos - I want to be sure you all see what you need to see!

Even though the tail of #1 is completely different than #s 2 and 3?

And #1 is the only one with waddles?

Is it the coloring you are looking at, or something else?

thank you so much! dawn

Since you said they are easter eggers, easter eggers often do not get wattles at all. The combs are very large and red for eight weeks old plus the coloring appears to be typical of males, ie solid red patches coming out on the wing. The tail is irrelevant at eight weeks old.

Here is a picture of one of my EE's at about 8-9 weeks old. If you just looked at the body shape you would think this was a female (and many did).. but notice the red coming out on the wings? Not too bright there but it got brighter. :)

a week or two later, he looked like this..

and by this pic it was getting rather obvious.. no wattles tho, see?

White patches on the wings like the OT's have are just as indicative as the red on the wings of these lighter birds, just to clarify a bit.

All boys, sorry. :( They do make really lovely flock guardians though! Featherz, that is one GORGEOUS boy! He almost looks lemon blue! What did he wind up looking like?

all are cockerels and those top 2 are pretty...color and the size/shape of the combs of the mixed combs all say cockerels
