She did say that the roo was likely an Orpington. I agree though, the characteristic cheek puffs seem absent but the combs are right. Leg color though is wrong for both breeds. Orps don't have yellow legs nor do EE's. But when you mix breeds, you come up with who knows what. Comb color is still too dark for girls, regardless of the other things.

All boys, sorry. :( They do make really lovely flock guardians though! Featherz, that is one GORGEOUS boy! He almost looks lemon blue! What did he wind up looking like?
Like this. :) And to stay on topic, there's those red patches again. =) I have EE's that have no cheek puffs - I can't call them anything but EE, as they lay blue and green eggs, but have no muff/beard.

To be very clear; the head rooster is an English Orpington.

The second rooster is something else entirely; I'd have to do some asking to find out. But this head rooster is huge; I really didn't think he would let any others get close to any of his girls.

I agree the legs do not appear as I'd expected, they are much more yellow.

If you look at my albums; you'll see these chicks as they are growing from chipmunk to what they look like now.

Another clarification; the broody mamas that raised these chicks did not lay the eggs; we don't have a rooster here Just broody hens

Well, two weeks have passed, and the first cockerel has started crowing

Was hoping for at least one girl...so here are more pics!

This is the known cockerel - called chick #1 in the initial post - the one with the waddles. He is crowing every morning - mostly certain he's a boy

This is Chick #2 from the first post at 10 weeks.

This is chick #3 from the first post - the only one with the muff & beard

Still hoping one of the latter two might be a girl.
